Today I'm excited to be sharing Eliza's Christmas ensemble as part of the Project Run & Play Handmade Holiday series!
The Aster Cardigan has been in my collection for a long time, but I hadn't sewn it up before. It's the perfect addition to Eliza's wardrobe! The 3/4 length sleeves will work year round, and it's just right to put over a sleeveless dress.
The fabric is an interlock knit from Let's Sew in Evansville. It's a medium-weight knit that doesn't press well, but it sewed up pretty easily and is an interesting gray color. The buttons are vintage from my grandmother's stash.
This pattern is beautifully drafted! Eliza's wearing a size 7, which corresponds with her RTW size. The placket construction is different from any other I've tried, and the finish is clean.
The dress is the Emily Maxi from Violette Field Threads, which is our favorite dress pattern. This is the third (or fourth?) time I've sewn it - each time with a different variation. This time I kept the neck ruffle, which is such a sweet detail.
The fabric is silk that a friend gifted me last year. It was enough to make this same dress last year, and I've probably got enough to do one next year, too!
The kids have a piano recital tonight, so Eliza will be all fancied up for her first performance! We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season! Keep an eye out for more holiday sewing inspiration from the designers as part of the Handmade Holiday tour!
